The Tigers have dominated all season, but when they face a LHP, they take it to another level. They have gone 20-7 or won just about 75% of the time. It is a lineup that features 10 players hitting .280 or higher, and produces 6.4-runs per game (RPG). Justin Verlander is having a breakout season, and the Tigers have won 18 of his last 25 home starts or again, close to 75%. Jorge DelaRosa pitched to a 6.50 ERA last season, first with the Brewers, and then with the Royals. He started this year, as if he had turned the corner, pitching to a 3.55 ERA into mid-May. He has since regressed and returned to his normal expectation. He has pitched 52 innings and allowed 114 runners to reach base since, with an ERA of 7.44. The Royals need plenty of runs in his starts, and have won just one time since mid-May with him on the hill when they don't score 10+ runs! The Royals are an improved team, but they still have a long way to go. They have lost 40 times in their 53 losses by 2+ runs. There is that 75%+ number again. We have a lot of signals pointing to this not being a competitive game, and throw in the fact that the Tigers are on a roll winning 23 of 34 doesn't hurt either.
