Kansas City at Detroit

Detroit continues to be a streaky team and it has Justin Verlander on the mound tonight against Kansas City, which is 16-30 on the road while the Tigers are 23-16 at home. Verlander is 8-6 with a 4.07 ERA and the Tigers have won five of his last seven starts. The right-hander had one bad outing against Cleveland, which is the Tigers' nemesis this year, and then bounced back with a win at Tampa Bay, allowing just two runs and four hits and then gave up two runs in 5 2/3 innings at Toronto. The Royals have lost five of Ian Kennedy's last seven starts and he has a 3-6 record with a 5.14 ERA on the road. There is literally a day and night difference to Kennedy's pitching this season as he boasts a 1.46 ERA in four day games and 4.80 in 13 night contests.  The Tigers have won 11 of their last 15 home games and the Royals are 9-26 on the road against righty starters.
