The Indianapolis Colts have eight players already ruled out for this game. Chuck Pagano said that Kendall Langford (knee), Henry Anderson (knee), Art Jones (ankle), Jalil Brown (foot/ankle), D’Joun Smith (knee), Tevin Mitchel (hamstring), Clayton Geathers (foot), and Hugh Thornton (ankle) won't play in Saturday's preseason opener. Pagano said that the plan with QB Andrew Luck will be similar to past years, which means one or two drives to open the game before Scott Tolzien takes over. Indy has major concerns on the offensive line and on defense, where they finished #26 in yards allowed, #25 in points and against the run. Pagano has never cared much for preseason, with a 5-11 SU, 6-9-1 spread mark. They face a Buffalo Bills squad with a pair of coaches (Rex and Rob Ryan) on the hot seat to produce. Rex took over a talented Buffalo defense last season and made it worse, so he brings in his combustible brother to try and help. But Rob's defenses with the Cowboys and Saints were horrible the last few years, only getting better after he left. The Bills' defense has plenty to prove and the physical, ground and pound offense is well suited for August football with mobile QBs Tyrod Taylor and E.J. Manuel. The two combined for 17-of-21 passing, 2 TDs, no picks and 192 yards in their last home preseason game, a 43-19 rout of Pittsburgh. The ground game also rolled up 156 yards and this shapes up as another one-sided game for the home team. Play Buffalo.
