LOSS

Virginia Tech got off to a surprisingly slow start. The loss in their opener to a tough Boise State team wasn't a surprise, but they proceeded to follow that up with a loss to James Madison as a 33 point favorite. Many gave up on the Hokies at that point, which was a mistake. They have righted the ship and rattled off six straight wins both SU and ATS and they remain as the only unbeaten team in ACC Conference play. With a win tonight, they would all but seal a place in the ACC Conference Championship game. This is not the same Georgia Tech team we have seen in the past couple of years. They do have five wins on the season, but the schedule has been soft and none of the wins are big ones. The fact is that their two toughest games saw them lose by at least 14 points in each of them. Many will look to the fact that they have had two weeks to prepare for Virginia Tech, but in their last 10 games after a bye they are just 2-8 ATS. The Hokies have enjoyed the Thursday night national spotlight as they are 17-5 ATS. Under Frank Beamer, this tream is 14-4 ATS as a home favorite of 7.5 to 14 points. They are also 24-12 ATS after back-to-back-to-back ATS wins. Virginia Tech wins and covers.
