Result:
LOSS

This is a high Week 1 college football total because of Oklahoma's wide-open offense the last three years. However, the Sooners lose Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield and the current quarterback situation is unsettled. QBs Kyler Murray and Austin Kendall failed to create any separation in practice, sending the competition into the fall. Left tackle Orlando Brown and tight end Mark Andrews, both unanimous All-Americans, are also gone. Fortunately, they can go to the ground game in Week 1 against a Florida Atlantic team that was #67 in rush defense last season and has question marks on offense. Florida Atlantic lost three members from its interior offensive line to graduation and its QB situation is in flux. Quarterback De'Andre Johnson played in just one game last year before surgery to remove blood clots in his arm. Redshirt freshman QB Chris Robison is also in the mix. Coach Lane Kiffin wants to run the football more and brings in new OC Charlie Weis Jr. (age 25), the youngest offensive coordinator in modern college football history. Which means the only sure thing on offense is RB Devin Singletary, off a season where he ran for 1,920 yards. At least the defense is solid, returning a ton of experience. The secondary tied for second nationally with 20 interceptions. All of which means a fast moving clock with less scoring than the betting public expects. Play the UNDER here.
