Detroit at New Jersey

New Jersey comes off a 5-3 loss to Florida on Tuesday and all five goals were scored in the first two periods. The Devils are not as big of a favorite as expected over last-place Detroit as they have lost seven of their last 10 games while the Red Wings actually have split their last four, including beating Boston for the second time this season. Backup goalie Jonathan Bernier actually has been much more effective than starter Jimmy Howard as he owns a 2.83 goals-against average and .910 save percentage and that compares well to New Jersey goalie Mackenzie Blackwood, who has a 2.84 GAA and .910 save percentage. Surprisingly, Detroit has won four of the last five meetings and the Devils are 8-20 their last 28 home games. Take the Red Wings.
