Detroit at Dallas

The Detroit Red Wings have opened the season at 2-0, as they head to Dallas to take on the 0-2 Dallas Stars. That will make most bettors hesitate to take the Stars in this one especially posted as a significant home favorite. The real issue is two games don't mean a whole lot, and Detroit has not been the team they used to be when they were making the playoffs all the time. The Red Wings have managed a winning record in just one of their last five seasons. The Stars were not good last season, but they were a much different team at home where they posted a winning record on the season at 22-19. History is often a good measuring stick, and 2-0 NHL teams that are on the road as a dog vs. an 0-2 team are 1-6. This game isn't what one would think, as history has a way of distorting conventional wisdom, and I'd rather be on the side of history. Play on Dallas.
