Top pick: #10 (THE USUAL Q T) - Fresh, fast, and talented he won the G1 "Eddie Read" here on the turf July 24 in his second back off a three month break. Speed/stalker has yet to win on a synthetic, but he's run well on them and is working very fast on this main track for this appearance. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (Temple City) - The main speed and he's been absolutely awesome in his last pair, missing by a head at Hollywood in a G2 on the turf and winning the "Cougar II" here on the main track last out. Continues to train fast and he's a strong win factor.
3rd pick: #1 (Battle of Hastings ) - Talented runner proved last out that he can handle this surface with a strong second-place finish in the "San Diego" (G2). Race was his first ever on a "poly" and stamps him as a legitimate threat. The faster the pace the better his chances.
4th pick: #8 (Crowded House) - English-import is the field's "wild card" as he has plenty of class and talent but has never raced on a synthetic course. He wasn't that far off the top pick in the Eddie Read and if he takes to this surface he could impact at a nice price.
