Top pick: #6 (DESERT STEEL) (2-1) - Lightly-raced grey filly enters off a solid third place finish here at this level and distance July 19. It was her first in almost three months and 3-year-old has worked well since. Can take this with just a bit of improvement.
2nd pick: #4 (Sky Forever) (7-2) - Veteran rallied to finish fourth here in the same last race as 'Desert Steel.' Only 1 1/21 back of that filly, she had a tough outside post (10th of 10) and draws much better for this assignment.
3rd pick: #3 (Cindy's Secret) (5-2) - She defeated the top two picks in here last out and has now been competitive in four straight since switching to the turf. In shape, home bred has a flexible style, and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #1 (Shallot) (15-1) - Long shot broke her maiden on the Los Alamitos dirt July 3. Reddam home bred is headed in the right direction and had a bullet 3-furlong work at San Luis Rey Downs Aug 1. Bred to like the grass and she may grab a share at a big price.
