Connecticut at Villanova

Always like to look at top-ranked teams laying a small number. You can bet UCONN will be up for this test. It doesn't get any better than Jim Calhoun in college baskets folks. His team is 11-3 ATS asa road favorite/pick over the past two seasons including 8-1 ATS if laying less than 7 points. Connecticut is 7-1 ATS this season vs. winning teams as well. The Huskies are 22-1 on the season, 9-1 in the Big East and have reeled off 11 straight wins. They're off a confidence boosting 32 point victory over Seton Hall on Saturday. They do it via defense, holding opponents to 36.6% shooting on the season. They are averaging 45 boards and 9 blocks. Villanova's had a great season but their defense just doesn't compare. They've played a slightly easier schedule and their offense is also a bit shy of Connecticut's. They have the home court advantage here and that's about it. But, Connecticut won't let that get in their way. Against common opponents, Connecticut averaged an 82.5 to 65.2 score while Nova averaged 76.3 to 61.8. Connecticut managed a 4-1 ATS record to Nova's 2-3 record. I like the Huskies here for two stars.
