Premium Pick

Top pick: #9 (HEADSTART) - Veteran was a much classier gelding most of last year and appears to be racing himself back into shape following a pair of layoffs. He's finished second in his last pair, one each at Delta and Indiana Downs and trainer Tom Amoss will drop him today into a career soft spot. The horse to beat.

2nd pick: #4 (Glamour Guy) - Talented but fragile runner finished 2nd in a G2 stakes on this surface back in the fall of '09 and has been sliding down the past year. Races third back off a 100-day break and trainer Ralph Nicks will drops him from $25,000 down to $7.5K this afternoon. Blinkers are added and it looks like a "go" in this spot as they may lose him via a claim.

3rd pick: #1 (Strong Premonition) - Gelding has the rail and good early speed as he moves up in price and shortens-up a bit. Consistent sort tries hard every time and has only run three times in the past 6 months. In-shape, fresh, but he needs to do better to knock off the top pair.

4th pick: #10 (Hobby) - Tampa shipper was sold privately after a win there racing for $8000 April 16th. Well-bred & improving, he'll need a fast pace up-front for any chance at more than a minor award.
