The Niagara Purple Aces used a five-game losing streak late in the season to galvanize a struggling team. They began to play harder, and became a confident team late in the season, finishing as winners of four of their last six. Canisius managed to best those four wins by just one the entire season, as the Golden Griffins struggled to a 5-24 campaign. Some teams remain competitive through a grueling season, but this was not the case with Canisius as 10 of their last 12 losses came by 10 points or more, so they haven't exactly been staying in games vs. anyone.
