Vancouver plays its home opener and looks strong all around. They just played this Calgary team on the road and rolled 5-1 while posting 44 shots on goal. The newly constructed line of Brandon Sutter with twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin produced 14 of those shots and combined for three goals and three assists. The depth is outstanding with 19-year-old center Jared McCann along with 22-year-old defenseman Ben Hutton making their NHL debuts Wednesday. The Canucks are 23-10 in the second game of a home-and-home situation, as well as 6-1 when playing on two days of rest. Vancouver goalie Ryan Miller, who made 29 saves Wednesday, hopes to match last season's start when he went 10-1-0 out of the gate. Vancouver is well coached and disciplined on defense, 10-4-2 UNDER the total against the Pacific Division and on a 4-1-1 run UNDER at home. Calgary laid an egg at home and is on a 1-5 run overall, including 0-5 on the road. The Flames are no bounce-back team, either at 4-14 following a home loss of three or more goals. Calgary is also 4-1-1 UNDER the total on the road and 18-6-2 UNDER after allowing five goals or more in their previous game. Vancouver is on a 5-1 run at home and has dominated Calgary going 24-11 against them, including 20-7 in this building. With the UNDER 4-0-1 when they meet in Vancouver, grab the home team in a defensive battle. Take Vancouver and the UNDER.
