Tonight's contest will mark the third time this season the two teams have met with the Coyotes holding a 2-0-0 record against Calgary. It isn't just this season that Phoenix owns the Flames. They are 21-9-4 versus Calgary since 1996. Phoenix is hot no doubt about it. Pheonix has won 3 out of their last 4 and their power play has been awesome. I know, I know the Flames are hot too! Winning 4 straight including two shutouts. The biggest reason for the Flames winning streak is the play of their goalie Kiprusoff. Phoenix has a better GA (2.72) then Calgary who has a (2.29) GFA. The real kicker here is the power play percentage advantage in which Pheonix has a 19.2% and Calgary only has a 12.6%. Along with the power play advantage the Coyotes also have a better GAA with CUJO holding a 2.13 GAA versus Kiprusoff's 2.35 GAA. Calgary is 5th in the Western Conference with 19.5 average penalty minutes. Better power play percentage, better GAA and more penalty minutes add up to goals for Pheonix. Pheonix will roll at home tonight. 5 stars on Phoenix.
