WIN

Buffalo opened the preseason with two straight home games, so this is their second straight road contest. The offense has not been impressive, coming off a 16-point performance in a loss at Washington. The Bills' two quarterbacks had no TDs, one pick and three sacks and the offense was 4-of-15 on third down (5-of-18 if you throw in fourth down). Buffalo is thin at linebacker and just made a trade with the Packers for OLB Lerentee McCray in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice. The Bills have been dealing with the absence of LB Shaq Lawson (shoulder surgery) and Manny Lawson (pectoral injury) leaving them with just a pair of undrafted rookies. A year ago in Week 4 Rex Ryan's team didn't show anything in a 17-10 loss at Detroit, letting QB Matt Simms play the whole game (no TDs, 3 sacks). The Lions are home and off a terrible performance at Baltimore. Detroit committed nine penalties for 95 yards Saturday and had four personal fouls (including three by starters Larry Warford, Riley Reiff and Nevin Lawson). They also had a touchdown called back by penalty. Lions coach Jim Caldwell admitted to having some legitimate concerns: "Don't take it lightly, there's a lot to improve upon," he said this week. I expect this team to show up here. Detroit is 8-0 against the spread in Week 4 of the NFL preseason and the home team shapes up as being far more interested in playing well. Play Detroit.
