The left-hander was 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA in August, and now he faces his former teammates in San Diego. Edwin Jackson is 3-5 with a 6.26 ERA overall this season, and he has been pounded his last three starts giving up 18 runs and 23 hits in only 11 2/3 innings with the Padres losing all three games by a combined score of 27-5. Jackson allowed five runs and seven hits in just 2 2/3 innings at Atlanta on Tuesday. Boston has won the first game of a series 16 of the last 21 times, and the Padres have lost eight of their last 10 against left-handed starters and 13 of their last 17 interleague home games.
