Top pick: #8 (BEACH HUT) (3-1) - Colt was a very sharp maiden winner when debuting in a Santa Anita sprint on Nov. 3. He's worked well since, and will be switching to a "poly" surface and stretching out in distance for trainer Bob Baffert.
2nd pick: #3 (Green Mask) (7-2) - He ships in from Kentucky where he was an impressive maiden winner at Keeneland. Colt has worked fast since and trainer Wesley Ward moves him way up in class and has him trying a two-turn distance.
3rd pick: #6 (Tamarando) (5-2) - One of a pair from trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and he's one of three stakes winners signed on. Strong finisher has already tried this trip twice and he was competitive in each.
4th pick: #5 (Life is a Joy) (5-1) - The second of the Hollendorfer pair, he won his first three starts, then finished a close up fourth in stakes at Santa Anita last out. Gelding "stumbled" at the break that afternoon and still ran well.
