(# 3) BERRY BOUND - He came within three lengths of a good Zito colt named Helsinki in a maiden race at Gulfstream in late March, though they finished second and sixth. He lost to an older horse who rode a golden rail on April 29, then whistled in next start to get first victory on May 9. His two maiden races at Delaware have had some horses that won their next out. Leading trainer at Delaware, Michael Gorham ships him up to tackle winners and for the initial time, fellow New York Breds. Working very well since his maiden win.

(# 9) Smokey Chimney - Dusted N.Y. bred maidens over this surface on May 26, earning a very lofty figure in the prices. He'll be the favorite and deservedly so. The top pick will make him earn it if he's good enough.

(# 10) Defrereoftheheart - Showed some promise at two for the McLaughlin barn. Earned a good figure in maiden win last out. Cuts back to six furlongs today and his half times are considerably slower than the top pair. Needs to get a good trip without being wide and hope the speed comes back a bit.

(# 2) Quick and Easy - Overmatched in stake last out. Will probably sit on the rail and see what develops. If he's patient, he could sneak into the tri.
