Bred for turf success, he meets a field that's a bit light on experience and gets the edge.
2nd pick: #12 (Smooth Move) (9-2) - Broman home bred by 'More Than Ready' makes his debut for the 17% first out barn of Linda Rice. He has a nice outside post for this distance and Jose Ortiz is aboard. When teamed up with Rice, he's won with 69-of-275 (25%) over the past 21 months.
3rd pick: #8 (O Shea Can U See) (8-1) - Son of 'Curlin' chased and tired to finish fourth when debuting in a dirt sprint at Monmouth Aug. 18. Trainer Jay Servis (30% second time out) moves him to the grass and has him in with fellow New York breds today. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #7 (Joe's Smokin Gun) (10-1) - 'Joe' has early speed and runs off a two month freshening. Working fast at Monmouth for his return, colt finished second in one of two on the grass this past summer. Interesting longshot.
