Top pick: #3 (TAKE A WALK) - The probable favorite takes a big drop today after finishing a distant second last out facing state-bred special weights. Trainer Phil Serpe has had a fine meet and along with the drop he'll cut this gelding back in distance. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #9 (Rush to Riches) - Interesting runner hasn't run in just over a year ago when he showed only brief speed in two starts. Fast forward to now he races first time for trainer Bruce Brown (a 19% winning angle) and this gelding is working very fast at Saratoga on the "deep" training track. The presence of J.J. Castellano is a plus as he wins at a 30% clip when riding for Brown.
3rd pick: #5 (Slew Like Symptoms) - Longshot ships from Finger Lakes and will drop in class and shorten-up in distance. Capable of impacting at a big price.
4th pick: #1 (Stonemill) - Much improved run last out saw him race evenly at this price and finish fourth of eight, beaten 4 1/2 lengths. Has the rail and can get a piece of this with a bit more improvement.
