Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #6 (GOSILENTLY) (7-2) - His connections scratched him out of a mile contest at this level two days ago to await this spot. He was beaten a 'head' on the Saratoga turf Aug. 31 and was probably best as he had some serious traffic issues in the final 1/16th of a mile. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Discretionary Marq) (2-1) - Lightly-raced home bred has finished second in both starts, one here when debuting July 3 and the latest at Saratoga Aug. 28. Heavily backed in both and an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Summer Mischief) (4-1) - Colt is an uncoupled barn-mate of 'Discretionary Marq' as both are trained by Chris Clement. Colt has early speed, has been improving, and is shortening up in distance. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #3 (Slewacandy) (12-1) - Colt cost $285,000 as a yearling back in Sep of 2015. He missed the break when debuting at this level going a mile at Saratoga Aug. 6 but ran well once in stride. He's worked six times since, is adding blinkers, and shortens up in distance. Look for an improved effort at a big price.
