Top pick: #1 (Entry of 1- ITALIAN RULES and 1a-GLICKMAN) (4-5) - Trainer Dave Jacobson has started this meet on a strong note and has a powerful pair coupled in today's opener but only one will run. "Italian Rules" just missed at Saratoga facing tougher Aug. 14 in his first off a three month break. "Glickman" was an easy wire-to-wire winner here six days ago in his first off a claim and a subsequent 7-week freshening. Either one that runs is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (B Shanny) (6-1) - At one time he would have given the Jacobson entry a tough tussle but he's slipped noticeably since in 2014. Former stakes winner did finish second at Saratoga on Aug. 11 and breaks from the rail. Stalker needs a patient ride from apprentice Worrie.
3rd pick: #5 (Buckeye Heart) (5-1) - He was no match for "B Shanny" last out at the Spa when he finished four lengths back of that rival with no apparent excuse. Another that's slipped over the past year and a small slice would appear to be his ceiling.
4th pick: #3 (Bobby V.) (12-1) - He has a bit of speed but has been racing evenly of late. Gelding finished last of five six days ago facing a bit better and is dropping down to a new low in price.
