Arizona at Detroit

There is no doubt that Detroit over-spent to retain QB Matthew Stafford, but what choice did they have? The available options were not there, and now there is huge pressure for Stafford to perform at an elite level. Although he is good, he has yet to estblish himself as a QB that can be a game changer for his team. The Lions were good last year, not great, and still have not won a playoff game since 1991, or the NFC Central since 1993. The problem for Detroit is no running game, finishing #30 last year, and did not have a back top the 70-yard mark all season. That puts even more pressure on Stafford. The Cardinals may have hit their peak two years ago, and will try to improve on a dismal 7-8-1 season. QB Carson Palmer is aging, as is WR Larry Fitzgerald, but the Cardinals signed a 32-year-old safety, a 35-year-old linebacker and a 42-year-old kicker. Arizona went for defense in the draft, and the Lions are a good matchup for them. They have a lot of question marks stopping the run, but the Lions can't run, and the offense is going to use the best back in the game David Johnson to control the game. Arians has already said he wants Johnson touching the ball 30 times a game. This game has the look of a shortened game, and defenses matching up better with the offenses. Play on the UNDER.
