Premium Pick

Top pick: #4 (BILLYPAYSTHEBILLS) (7-2) - Lightly-raced colt showed a bit of early speed on a muddy surface at Belmont Sept. 21, but tired badly in the last 1/2 mile. It was his first start in ten months and he probably needed the race. A good smallish barn (Nick Esler) has given him almost six weeks to recover, drops him down a notch, and 3-year-old should show whatever he has in this spot.

2nd pick: #2 (Eight Cents) (8-5) - The field's most experienced maiden, he's gone 14-0-3-4 on the dirt and raced evenly here in a pair last spring going a mile. One-run type is dropping back down and finished a solid third at this tag going 7-furlongs at Saratoga Aug. 9. Win candidate.

3rd pick: #1 (Quikpiknikk) (6-1) - He's the only debuting maiden and this colt has some impressive works on a tab with a dozen published drills dating back to early July. He has the rail and is a win candidate with a clean break.

4th pick: #6 (Onthecurve) (4-1) - Gelding rallied while wide to finish a distant third when debuting on a muddy surface at Belmont. He was cold at the windows (40-1), and will need to break a bit better and be more involved in the early stages on this traditionally speed-favoring surface.
