Week 6 New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers NFL Picks

The New York Giants have been one of the most up and down teams in the NFL this season. They looked horrible in week one against the Cowboys. They then turned around and won a couple of games, even blowing out Carolina on a Thursday night road date. The Giants had to come back to beat Cleveland last week, and they certainly did not look great. Ahmad Bradshaw was awesome, but he really needed to be. With Hakeem Nicks out, the Giants really lack the offensive horsepower that Eli Manning is used to having around him.

So what will they do this week when they travel across the country to face off against the San Francisco 49ers. The San Francisco team has been great this season. They went into Green Bay and won a big game there. Last week, they looked good again. The 49ers dominated Buffalo at home. The interesting thing that we see with San Francisco this year is the offense. They have scored a lot of points and the passing game has looked better than last year. Perhaps the boys from the Bay have gotten around on the Jim Harbaugh offense a little bit more.

This week, San Francisco is a relatively large favorite. They are a 6.5 point favorite at most books. In the NFL, it is difficult to cover as a touchdown favorite. Most of the time, these lines come when teams have a massive disparity in talent. Most people would say that there is no big difference in talent on these two teams. So why is the line so high? It might have something to do with the long travel for the Giants. It might also have to do with how well the 49ers have played at home this season.

The betting public seems to be backing the Giants in this game. That has to be a scary thing for any person who supports the New York side. When the public backs a road underdog, it often loses out. People who expect the 49ers to win would like to see more of this Giants backing. San Francisco has the defense to force Eli Manning into mistakes. They also have a revenge factor in mind after New York won in San Francisco last season. Look for these factors to play out in a very interesting game on Sunday afternoon.
