The Oklahoma Sooners continue their pursuit of their first ever national title in team history this Saturday night in Houston as slight underdogs and to keep their Big Dance alive they are going to have to win a second-straight game as slight underdogs.
The Sooners’ run to this game included a solid 77-63 victory against Texas A&M as 2.5-point favorites on BetAnySports’ closing betting line and they really caught bettor’s attention with last Saturday’s 80-68 romp over No. 1 Oregon as one-point underdogs. The total stayed UNDER in both of those games. Before winning these two games both straight-up and against the spread, Oklahoma failed to cover in its previous seven outings and the total has now stayed UNDER in 12 of its last 14 games.
The key to keeping this run alive will be the continued high-level of play by All-American senior Buddy Hield. He led the team in scoring all season long with 25.4 points per game and he came up huge in the win against Oregon with 37 points while going 13-for 20 from the field. The Sooners are averaging 81 PPG in this tournament and they are allowing an average of 70 points on defense.
Villanova reached the Final Four out of the South Region by taking-out Miami 92-69 in the Sweet 16 as a four-point favorite before stunning No. 1 Kansas 64-59 as a two-point underdog in the Elite 8. The total stayed UNDER BetAnySports’ closing 145-point line after going OVER 140 against the Hurricanes. The Wildcats are a perfect 4-0 ATS in this tournament and the total has gone OVER in 10 of their last 13 games in NCAA basketball picks.
Balance and defense have been the key to Villanova’s success in the month of March. In last Saturday’s game against Kansas, the trio of Josh Hart, Kris Jenkins and Ryan Arcidiacono each scored 13 points and despite shooting just 40.4 percent from the field and 22.2 percent from three-point range, the Wildcats were able to keep the high-powered Jayhawks in check to grind-out a win.
Oklahoma vs. Villanova Game NCAA Basketball Pick
There is no doubt that Hield is a stud, but I am banking on the Wildcats executing the same exact blueprint in the win against Kansas to take down their second-straight Big 12 foe.
