The statistical movement and sports betting

The statistical movement is in full force. Baseball statistical analysis has taken hold in the MLB and many people are on board with that. Likewise, there are now general managers in both football and basketball who are employing some advanced techniques. So can you use this information with your sports betting? The answer is a definitive yes. You can use stats to bet on sports and it can help you get a leg up on the rest of the market. There should be a word of caution given to people who are planning on using stats in sports betting, though.

The caution is that you need to make sure you are using the right stats. If you aren’t using the right stats or you don’t really have a full understanding of stats, then you can be led the wrong way. If you are not familiar with statistics, then you should do some reading up on stats before you try to put them to use. There are basic things like sample sizing that you have to understand if you want to use stats the right way. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you know when you really don’t.

How to avoid sports betting tilt with your NFL picks?

If you play poker, then you are probably familiar with the term “tilt.” It hits poker players all the time and it can prove to be a very difficult thing for them to handle. Many poker players lose their money because they just can’t handle the emotional swings associated with the game. Though sports betting & NFL picks doesn’t have that kind of volatility, it does have some. Sports betting tilt can be just as difficult for many people, so you need to keep your eyes peeled for it. You need to avoid sports betting tilt if you are going to be successful.

So how can you do this? The best policy is probably to make all of your NFL picks at the beginning of the day and leave it alone. That way, when you lose a bunch of games in the early going, you won’t have to log on to make picks for the night. If you have already made the picks, then you can just let them ride. Make a policy for yourself that you won’t do any sports betting late at night. This is something that will help you avoid the bad downswings and the tilt that can knock you on your bottom.
