After the Heat defeated the top-seeded Bulls last Thursday to claim the East, a rematch of the 2006 Finals was set: Dallas vs. Miami. In that memorable series, the Mavericks had a commanding 2-0 lead and 13-point lead late in the fourth quarter of game 3. Yet, they choked away both leads and lost the series, giving Dwayne Wade his first title. What will happen this time around?

Dallas is a damn good team: If you remove the games in which either Dirk Nowitski or Tyson Chandler were out, Dallas owns a 64-16 record (54-23-3 ATS)! So with those two in the lineup, based on record, there is no better team in the NBA. And, they are 12-3 SU and ATS in the playoffs. There has been tremendous value on Dallas early on in the playffs because people view this as the “old” under-performing Dallas Mavericks. The public remembered this as the 2006 “choke” team. This was the team with a super star that people just couldn’t respect (7 foot white guy that doesn’t bang down low). So there was great line value on Dallas early on. This is one reason I recommended taking the Mavs to win their series against the Lakers here.

The key word above, however, is “was.”  The perceptions have changed. Dirk is getting his due and the line value has probably gone. They are 2-2 ATS in their last four games and nearly two thirds of the public is on them in game 1.

Are the New York Jets interested in Randy Moss?

Last season was one that future Hall of Famer Randy Moss would like to forget. Not only did he burn a bridge with the New England Patriots, which he is almost certainly regretting, but he bounced around the league after the storied franchise sent him packing.

There were some people that believed that Randy Moss heading back to Minnesota to play with Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson would be just what he needed to resurrect his career and turn the Vikings back into a Super Bowl title contender. Unfortunately, despite the fact he helped the Vikings be favored in NFL picks, the reunion was short lived as he was cut from the team and ultimately landed with the Tennessee Titans.

Now that Randy Moss has basically been dubbed at the twilight of his career, the veteran wide receiver will look to get on a winning football team and apparently the New York Jets could be his next destination.

Braylon Edwards will take less money to re-sign with the New York Jets ?

The New York Jets are without doubt one of the all-around football teams in the NFL today. Even though the Jets are usually favored in NFL picks due to their lockdown defense, they have vastly improved on offense every single season and this offseason might not be much different.

The biggest free agents questions that have been asked of the New York Jets this offseason is what they will do about re-signing their current wideouts or going after other wide receivers around the league. With both Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards being free agents, the Jets have some big decisions to make, but Edwards may have made it easier by saying that he would take less money to stay with the Jets.

This has to be music to the ears of the New York Jets front office after they had such a big ordeal with Darrelle Revis last year.

There was a lot of talk heading into the NFL offseason that the up-and-coming Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be next in line for the HBO’s hit show Hard Knocks. With the Bucs one of the biggest surprises in the NFL last season and the fact that they would have some interesting story lines heading into next season, they were a perfect candidate and the front runner for HBO’s Hard Knocks, but apparently the team has declined to appear on the show.

With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers out of the running for HBO’s Hard Knocks, the next team considered to be the front runner and always should have been in my opinion is the Oakland Raiders. With the Raiders having a break out year last season and beginning to get some love in NFL picks, they are without a doubt the best team as of right now for this iconic show on HBO.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are a very talented and young squad that seem to have hit their stride and quickly become one of the best all-around teams in the NBA. With that being said, no is surprised just how far they have come in the NBA playoffs thus far, but whether or not they can get past a more experienced and battle tested Dallas Mavericks squad in the Western Conference Finals remains to be seen.

Even though they probably won’t get much love in NBA picks and the Dallas Mavericks will most likely be favored to be the team to advance to the NBA Finals in the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been given the reputation for pulling off upsets and embracing the underdog role.

With that being said, I believe the Western Conference Finals could easily become a long series that has the potential of going the full seven games.

Ever since the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers were swept by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the playoffs the rumors have started flying around Lakerland about the next head coach and whether or not GM Mitch Kupchak will pull the trigger on some trades.

The consensus as of right now is the Los Angeles Lakers bound to wheel and deal in the offseason in order to improve their franchise and give this team a better chance of being favored in NBA picks next season and beyond. Whether or not that turns out to be the case remains to be seen, but the one big-name that keeps getting mentioned as a possible target of the Lakers is Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic.

There is no real certainty on if the Lakers will make a deal to get Howard, but if they do decide to make a trade it will be no surprise to see Superman in Los Angeles when it is all said and done.
