Horse Racing Selections - June 10, 2012It was an exciting 144th running of the Belmont Stakes with the "gutsy" Union Rags rallying late along the inside to nip the pace-setting Paynter on the wire. We had the winner picked 2nd , but our top selection (Dullahan) had a very poor trip, racing in traffic and being shuffled back after moving up on the far turn. Belmont Park is closed today, so our East Coast Racing Newsletter has three races from Monmouth and one from Arlington Park. Saturday's Belmont Sheet Results: The Belmont Stakes was exciting, but right here at Betfair Hollywood Park the remarkable Acclamation went gate to wire to his third consecutive running of the Charles S.Whittingham Hdcp(G1) a tremendous achievement in a very tough sport. "Hats Off" to all the people involved with him. Saturday's West Coast Results: ![]() Today's Picks: Top pick: #2 (NINA'S PRIDE) - She was an impressive gate to wire maiden winner here on May 19th in what was only her 2nd start. Home-bred has come back with a fast work and trainer Ben Perkins Jr. takes the next logical step with her. Filly had a sharp work 6 days ago and has plenty of room for upside. 2nd pick: #6 (Don Six's Number) - Grey filly went (4-2-2-0) here last year and finished 2nd in the filly division of the Jersey Futurity Oct 29th in her final race of 2011. She returned here May 27th and tired to finish 3rd after setting a fast and pressured pace. Barn brings her back quickly and she's a major threat. 3rd pick: #1 (Knight Tripp) - Improving filly ran a career best when she rallied to finish 2nd in the same race as Don Six's Number. Strong finisher has the rail and should get a fast/and or contested pace to cloe into. BETFAIR HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #3 at 5:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #2 (MEADOW ROAD) - Claimed last July by Dan Hendricks for $50K, colt was sent in for a 7 month rest and has gone (4-1-3-0) since returning. Last out he rallied to finish 2nd to a "much the best" winner racing in a $25K 2l claimer and is nicely spotted by the barn in this starter-allowance. 2nd pick: #3 (Grumpy Small Mouth) - Speedy and lightly raced gelding ran a career best when finishing 2nd here at this level on May 18th. Effort came 2nd back off a 9 month layoff and he had a fine half-mile work here just4 days ago. 3rd pick: #5 (Warren's Rail Bird) - Much improved of late, he rallied to break his maiden at Santa Anita facing fellow Cal-breds in a $50K claimer on April 22nd. Freshened-up since, he's working fine and last August he just missed on a similar surface at Del Mar. Stretch threat.
