Free Horse Racing Picks - June 07, 2012
Our Belmont Stakes package will be ready tomorrow afternoon! Pre-order the sheet here for $25.
Perfect weather is expected for this Saturday's Belmont Stakes (G1) and a crowd of between 100k to 120K will be on hand as "I'll Have Another" will attempt to become the first Triple Crown winner since Harbor View Farm's "Affirmed" did it 34 years ago.
I was on hand for it and it was a very special day as thoroughbred racing was enjoying a tidal wave of excitement with both "Secretariat" and "Seattle Slew" also winning the "crown" during the early part of that decade. The sport has taken many hits since then, but prior to the late 50's, the three most important sports in this country were baseball, boxing, and horse racing, and not necessarily in that order. At least for one day it will be the talk of the sports world again.
We'll have a Special Edition racing newsletter featuring the Belmont (race #11) available late tomorrow that will feature selections and a detailed analysis on six races on the big day.
Today we have four races from Belmont to go with four premium racing selections from Betfair Hollywood.
East Coast Results: Arlington Park Race #3 Top Pick #3 (Fine Lookin Lady) $4.40.
Belmont Park Race #6 Top Pick #9 (Strike Accord) $7.20.
Arlington Park Race #5 Exacta (6-3) $42.20.
West Coast Results: Woodbine Race #3 Exacta (2-5) $8.90.
Woodbine Race #5 Super-fecta box (8-3-6-2) $335.70.
Woodbine Race #6 Exacta (7-8) $11.20.
Top pick: #5 (TWO MOONS) - Veteran mare ships from Finger Lakes where she was a decisive winner over weaker on May 4th. Grey 6-year-old is (6-3-1-2) since being claimed by Chris Englehart in late January, and Domingiez, who won with her Feb. 19 is aboard. The trainer/jockey combo wins at a 25% rate when teamed-up.
2nd pick: #6 (Santorini Moon) - She's in career best form at present and has learned to rate and finish after being a front-runner earlier in her racing days. Mare has been claimed in each of her last four starts and runs today off a Mike Miceli claim for $15K for the Repole Stable.
3rd pick: #7 (Miss Tequila) - Hard-hitting veteran has enough speed to stay within range and make a race of this turning for home. Mare likes this surface (6-1-2-1) and draws a nice post for this 6.5 furlong trip.
4th pick: #1 (Surround Sound) - Longshot finished second here at this tag and trip April 27th, then tired while racing wide going a mile on May 6th. Has the rail, some positional speed, and should be a square price.
