Santa Anita Horse Racing - May 31, 2012Belmont Park is back open following a pair of "dark" days and we have selections and analysis on four races from there. Wednesday's East Coast Results: Betfair Hollywood Park is back in business after a pair of "Dark" days, and we have selections and analysis from there on four of the eight races on the program. Wednesday's West Coast Results: ![]() Today's Picks: Top pick: #3 (SARATOGA SNACKS) - He hasn't raced since breaking his maiden late in the Saratoga meet on Sep 3rd. Heavily bet in both starts there, he finished 2nd on a muddy track when debuting on August 8th and got his win 4 weeks later after rallying from just off the pace. Working fast for his return and he can take this if ready. 2nd pick: #4 (Ludo Bagman) - He's one of two entered by trainer Rick Dutrow and they race uncoupled. Gelding finished 2nd here on April 29th at this distance and level and was only beaten a 1/2 length. Effort came off almost a 7 week break and he's an obvious threat. 3rd pick: #8 (What's the Record) - Freshened-up since finishing a close-up 4th at this level racing at Aqueduct March 18th, $200K son of "El Corredor" has some closing punch in a contest with a lot of speed signed on. Can factor, but needs to avoid being hung wide. 4th pick: #7 (Tancredi) - The 2nd of the Dutrow pair broke his maiden when debuting on March 22nd at Aqueduct, then had a troubled start last out going a mile on this surface and tired to finish 3rd. It's Luzzi off and Dominguez on today and the trainer/jockey comobo wins at a 33% over the past 18 months when teamed-up. BETFAIR HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #1 at 4:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #5 (LATE NIGHT SKY) - Gelding has been competitive in 6 of his 7 grass starts and broke his maiden as a heavy favorite late in the Santa Anita meet at this mile distance. Trainer Kathy Walsh has freshened him up since and speed/stalker is nicely spotted in his first facing winners. This is a weak field for the tag and 3yo is the horse to beat. 2nd pick: #1 (Take No prisoners) - Well-bred gelding won two of his last three starts when in the Baffert barn and runs today off a negative barn switch via a claim. Taken for $12.5K on April 14th, new barn has had him freshening up for 7 weeks and will move him to the grass and stretch him out in distance. 3rd pick: #6 (Trucial State) - Colt broke his maiden at Santa Anita March 15th and then finished a close-up 4th in a small field (5) facing a bit tougher than these in his first facing winners on April 12th. Freshened-up since then, trainer John Sadler has worked him 6 times in the past 5 weeks. 4th pick: #2 (Major Magic) - He won a small stakes sprinting at Colonial Downs in Virginia last July and was sent in for a 4 1/2 month break at that time and when he returned he was in California and in a new barn (Neil Drysdale). Gelding has been in "over his head" in a pair of stakes and should find this group much more to his liking.
