![]() Today's Picks: Top pick: #3 (SWINGING BERNIE) - Grey gelding has become a much better horse since a trainer change to Mike Maker last Sepotember. Following a two month break, he's gone (9-2-4-0) since then with all of his success coming on similar surfaces at both Turfway Park & Keeneland. Speed/stalker has been rested up for the past 6 weeks and has an excellent local work on May 26th. 2nd pick: #6 (Hurta) - Speedy veteran is (44-15-2-7) overall and is (14-5-1-2) locally. He's won 3 of his last 5, so as a 9yo he still brings a good game just about every time out. Likes to race in front and is dangerous any time he's left alone on the lead. 3rd pick: #2 (Go Doug Go) - He has a good closing kick and should get a solid pace to rally into if both "Bernie" & Hurta enter the gate. It's been a long time since he's raced on the all weather surface, but is 3 for 9 on it. 4th pick: #8 (Beware the Tiger) - Since returning from a 5 1/2 month layoff in late October he's gone (7-2-1-2) and last out was a very impressive winner at this distance racing for $7500. Effort came off a 2 1/2 month layoff and the figure earned that day was a career best. WOODBINE Race #2 at 7:15 PM Eastern Top pick: #1 (CATTARAUGUS) - Filly hasn't raced since debuting in an "off the turf" sprint contest at Saratoga on August 21st. Prepared for her return initially at Gulfstream, 3yo has a trio of sharp works since shipping north and she draws the rail. Take her for a mild "upset" 2nd pick: #3 (Grapefruit League) - Debuting daughter of "speed" stallion "Latent Heat" , is working fast on this strip, including a near bullet half-mile gate breeze a week ago. In the top barn of Bob Tiller and a major factor 3rd pick: #2 (Rue de Jean) - Speedy 5yo mare has finished in three of five local starts at this distance and has done so in two straight at this meet since returning from a 10 month layoff in early April. 4th pick: #6 (Daylight Cat) - She has some early speed and already is making her 3rd start at this meet. In a good barn (Mark Frostad) but she'll either to out-run "Jean" or attempt to rate and finish.
