Santa Anita Horse Racing - May 20, 2012In the world of thoroughbred racing a potential "Triple Crown" winner is as exciting as it gets and yours truly has been at the crowning of the last three runners to do it, Secretariat in 1973, Seattle Slew in "77", and the last horse to accomplish the feat, Affirmed in 1978. With his dramatic win in yesterday's Preakness Stakes, I'll Have Another sets up a very exciting running of the Belmont Stakes on June 9th. With nice weather, a crowd of between 100,000 up to 125K can be expected for the 1 1/2 mile contest affectionately known as the "Test of Champions". We had a nice day on our Special Preakness with three out of six winners on top, including Hudson Steele ($8.20) who "keyed" a cold exacta of $119.60 in the race right before the big race. We once again finished 2nd with Bodemeister, but a box exacta with I'll have another did return $18.60. For full results see below. Today we have two races apiece from both Monmouth Park & Belmont. The Best Bet is #3 Cherry on Top in Race #3 at Monmouth Park. Our Preakness Sheet Results: Saturday's East Coast Results: Nice performance yesterday by our top pick #1 Include Me out in winning the Marjorie L Everret Stakes(G2) at Betfair Hollywood Park. Race was her 3rd Graded win in a row and she's lightly raced and still improving. Today, we once again have selections & analysis on four races from Betfair Hollywood Park. Saturday's West Coast Results: ![]() Today's Picks: Top pick: #3 (CHERRY ON TOP) - Mare was stakes placed her last year sprinting on the grass and has most of her success on the turf (14-4-1-2). However she does have two wins on the dirt, the latest coming in her most recent appearance April 7th at Tampa Bay Downs. Trainer Jane Cibelli dropped her down that afternoon and 5yo was a "handy" winnerr in the allowance-optional $16K claimer. Florida-bred has a fast work since shipping here and races in a straight $16K claimer. The top pick. 2nd pick: #1 (Two For One) - Owner/trainer Ed Brome drops this grey filly down in class, will cut her back in distance, and switch 4yo daughter of Value Plus from turf to the dirt. The last time she ran on the main-track, she was victorious at Gulfstream going 7 furlongs on Feb 17th. 3rd pick: #4 (Don's Peach) - Speedy and lightly raced, Jersey-bred goes from turf to dirt after pressing the pace and tiring in a $50K sprint stakes on the Meadowlands grass May 5th. Race was her first in 2 1/2 months and in her last start on the dirt she finished just under three lengths back of Two For One at Gulfstream Park. Likes this surface (5-1-3-0) and is dangerous if she gets the early lead without a struggle. BETFAIR HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #3 at 5:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #4 (MY DIANE) - Filly comes off a career best "figure" when she finished 2nd here at this level going 7 furlongs on May 6th. Effort came off a 7 week freshening and 4yo has come back with a near bullet half-mile work on the 15th. The horse to beat. 2nd pick: #2 (Running Isabella) - She looked sharp when going wire to wire here when breaking her maiden on April 29th. Win came off almost a 7 month layoff and she's come back with a pair of fine works. She's the speed nearest the rail and is a win candidate right back. 3rd pick: #6 (Warren's Goldie) - Grey filly finished 3rd on the Santa Anita turf at this level April 15th and then tired after chasing the pace here in a $71K stakes going 7 furlongs April 28th. Nice work a week ago and she can factor at a square price.
