We will have a regular East Coast sheet tomorrow featuring four races from Belmont Park, including a pair of $150,000 turf stakes, The Beaugay (G3) and the Fort Marcy (G3). First post in New York is 12:50 PM Eastern.
This afternoon's East Coast newsletter features five stakes races from Churchill Downs, including the 138th running of the $1,000,000 Kentucky Oaks (G1) for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/8th miles. They have a 10:30 am post today with the first race on our sheet going off at 1:25 PM EST.
East Coast Results: Churchill Downs Race #2 Top Pick #3 (Sharilyn Jean) $4.80.
Churchill Downs Race #6 Exacta (8-3) $39.70.
Top pick: #4 (PLUM PRETTY) - Top-class performer was a game winner on this surface a year ago when she held on gamely to take the Kentucky Oaks (G1). She's (11-5-2-2) overall with $1.65M in earnings and this is her favorite trip (4-3-1-0). 4-year-old was a comfortable winner at Oaklawn Park in the Apple Blossom Stakes (G1) April 13th, her first start since early November. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #6 (Absinthe Minded) - Hard-hitter has kept only the best of company during her career and although without winning a big race like this, she's been competitive in most and last out finished second to "Plum Pretty" at Oaklawn in the Apple Blossom (G1). Training fine and she has a solid shot this afternoon.
3rd pick: #1 (Afleeting Lady) - Mare by "Afleet Alex" began to improve noticeably the minute she joined the barn of Dale Romans. 5-year-old likes this surface (4-2-2-0) and runs for the first time since late November when she missed by a head here in the Falls City Hdcp (G2). Training fast, has the rail, and she should be a nice price.
4th pick: #5 (Juanita) - Improving daughter of "Minshaft" comes off a career best when she finished second to the reiging Horse of the Year and the recently retired "Havre de Grace" at the Fair Grounds March 17th. Training fast and she's in a barn (Mike Maker) that knows how to win big races.
