Horse Racing Handicapping - April 22, 2012

Aqueduct closes its long meet today and won't be open for "live" racing again until late October. Belmont starts up this week, followed by Saratoga, then back to Belmont right after Labor Day.

AQUEDUCT Race #3 at 1:50 PM Eastern

Top pick: #6 (MY SWEET CANDY) - $130,000 daughter of "Candy Ride" shipe cross-country from So. California and goes from the fine barn of John Sadler to that of Dave Jacobson. She's shown good early speed in all her starts facing tougher and has done so on "poly", grass, and dirt. New trainer drops her into a claimer for the first time and her early "gas" makes her the horse to beat.

2nd pick: #1 (Black and White) - Price play has taken money in three of her four starts and is working sharply for her first race since March 7th. Has the rail, good positional speed, and is a win candidate.

3rd pick: #4 (Pure Sunshine) - Just like he did at this time last year trainer J.P. Teranova is beginning to get on a roll. He sends out this debuting filly who has 11 published drills at Belmont since Feb. 1. A bullet 5-furlong gate breeze back on March 21st indicates speed is present.
