Horse Racing Line - March 21, 2012

Racing at Aqueduct moves to the main-track today, two weeks earlier than scheduled, due to the continued mild weather in the northeast. It means the return of seven furlong contests and "flat" mile (one turn races).

The Wood Memorial(G1) will be run there two weeks from this Saturday (April 7th) and the first grass races are just around the corner.

All four of our races today are from Aqueduct.

AQUEDUCT Race #2 at 1:20 PM Eastern

Top pick: #4 (COOPER RIVER) - He's a very consistent runner (16-5-3-2) fits well at this level and distance. Son of "Orientate" won his only previous start on the main-trcak here and his flexible style is a big plus in this small field.

2nd pick: #3 (Haya's Boy) - In career best form at present, he was an easy wire to wire winner last out in a first-level state-bred allowance and that win came in his 2nd off a Jeremiah Englehart claim. Has a sharp work on March 10th and is a win candidate.

3rd pick: #2 (Jupiter Trio) - Very strong finisher was a winner on this surface on Nov 17th and last out he "flew" down the stretch to jus fail at this level and distance. That was a career best overall and this grey son of "Mutakddim" is a major player.

Top pick: #1 (LAKE FOREST) - Philadelphia Park invader drops back in for a tag folowing a pair of solid efforts there in starter-allowances. Speed/stalker draws the rail, has run well on this surface in the past, and has a near bullet half-mile breeze on March 14th before being sent here.

2nd pick: #5 (Blue Tick Hound) - Gelding by "Pico Central" ran a career best when finishing a pace setting 2nd here at this price on Feb 23rd. Effort came first off a positive trainer change to Hugh McMahon following a claim and a repeat of it makes him a threat.

3rd pick: #3 (Bigstormrising) - He's finished 2nd at this 2l condition in 3 of 4 starts since breaking his maiden at Philly Park on Sep 10th and will be running today off a 2 month freshening. Working well for his comebacker, and 4yo has come in 2nd in 6 of 10 local outings.
