Best Horse Racing Systems - February 25, 2012With the "road to the Derby" heating up as we near the end of February, today's East Coast racing newsletter features the important Risen Star Stakes (G2) from the Fair Grounds. Tomorrow the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) from Gulfstream will take center stage. The former is the last major prep heading into the Louisiana Derby (G1) and the latter serves as the final stepping stone for Gulfstream's premier event, The Florida Derby(G1). Today's newsletter also includes the Mineshaft Hdcp (G3) for older runners from the Fair Grounds, and the Busher Stakes for 3-year-old fillies from Aqueduct. As the 3-year-old picture continues to "heat up," we'll have all the important preps for the Derby wherever their run on this side of the Mississippi on our East Coast racing newsletter. From the west today, we run with four premium races from Santa Anita. Get all of today's races here. East Coast Results: Aqueduct Race #2 Best Bet #3 (Stellar's Theory) $4.30. Tampa Bay Downs Race #4 Top Pick #9 (Pullmeout) $5.80. Aqueduct race #5 Exacta (3-7) $10.60. West Coast Results: Santa Anita Race #1 Top Pick #1 (Runaway Wildcat) $3.80. Santa Anita Race #8 Top Pick #6 (Starspangled Heat) $5.40. ![]() Today's Picks: Top pick: #6 (IT'S ME MOM) - The probable heavy favorite, she's won 4four in a row and 6-of-7 overall since coming back from a 4 1/2 month layoff last May. Last out she was an easy wire-to-wire winner at Gulfstream in a $150K stakes Jan. 28 and has a pair of excellent local works since. This is her home track and 4-year-old daughter of "Put It Back" is (3-2-1-0) on it. 2nd pick: #4 (White Merlot) - She broke her maiiden here when debuting a bit over a year ago racing for $25K and there were no takers. She's gone (9-2-3-3) since that time and placed in four stakes last year. She finished a solid second here nine days ago in her first race since late July and this speed/stalker should be competitive in this spot. 3rd pick: #7 (My Pal Christy) - Stakes winner in the past, filly will shorten-up in distance after she finished an even fourth at Gulfstream on Jan. 28 to the undefeated filly "Awesome Again," going 9 furlongs in a $300K stakes. "Merlot" has handled her the two times they've met, so she would need a complete pace collapse for anything more than a minor award. Results: 11-9 ![]() Horse Racing Picks Resources: Check out the last five Horse Racing Picks Newsletters: Horse-Racing-Picks-February-24-2012 Horse-Racing-Picks-February-24-2012 Horse-Racing-Picks-February-23-2012 Horse-Racing-Picks-February-23-2012 Horse-Racing-Picks-February-20-2012 |
