Kentucky Derby Picks - January 27, 2012

Today's Picks:

AQUEDUCT Race #2 at 12:50 PM Eastern

Top pick: #4 (EUROSENSATION) - The probable favorite has "burned" a lot of money in her day, but finished a strong second here at this level and distance on Jan. 8 in her second start back off an eight month layoff. The field is weak, Dominguez stays put, and she can get her elusive maiden win in this spot.

2nd pick: #5 (Carrot Thief) - Lightly-raced filly took some money last out and after saving ground early from her inside post, she suwng wide and rallied to finish second. A repeat of that effort makes her a threat.

3rd pick: #6 (A New York Phillie) - She takes the big plunge into claiming land for the first time and will also be cutting back in distance. Filly by "Borrego" hasn't been competitive since last August at Saratoga, but at this reduced level she should factor.

4th pick: #3 (Sweet Adeline) - Has some early speed, and in a race like this, that must always be respected. She's been competitive in two straight on this surface and should be again in this spot.
