Best Horse Racing Systems - November 20, 2008We had a nice day again yesterday, highlighted by the 10th race at Churchill Downs. For full results see below. The Fair Grounds doesn't race again until tomorrrow, so we'll go with two races each from Churchill and Hollywood with a single contest from Aqueduct. Today's Best Bet is #11 Book of Z in Race #7 at Churchill Downs. Thursday's Results: Aqueduct Race #9 Best Bet #3 (Castle Harbour) $4.60. ![]() Today's Horse Racing Picks: Top pick: #1 (SHIFTY GUY) - He's improved in his last pair and on Oct. 30, his first at this tag, he rallied late to finish second beaten less than a length. Draws the rail, stays at the same price and distance and this field is pretty weak. 2nd pick: #3 (The Third Degree) - Drops from $35,000 to $25K and last out started from a very tough post (11). He has a much better draw today, has some speed and is a price possibility. 3rd pick: #2 (Sweet Groom) - Speedy runner has backed-up badly in all four starts to date. Drops slightly and has a sharp work on November 15. His quick early gear makes him dangerous. 4th pick: #6 (Prince Phillip) - Drops in half for the Contessa barn off a debut that saw him race wide from a poor post (10). Drops in half, and look for much better today. CHURCHILL DOWNS Race #7 at 3:35 PM Eastern Top pick: #11 (BOOK OF OZ) - Colt showed good speed in his debut for the Dale Roman's barn and held gamely to finish third. Working sharply since and he draws a nice outside post at this seven-furlong distance. Breaks his maiden with a "clean" trip. 2nd pick: #9 (Old Ninety Eight) - Another from the Roman's barn, and they'll race uncoupled. Son of "Storm Cat" is coming off a layoff and raced well in his last start before the break. He has a series of four strong works for his return. 3rd pick: #8 (Clandestine Fury) - Colt raced well here in the fall of '07 and has been laid-up since this past March. In a fine barn (Helen Pitts) and she can have them sharp off of rests. Contender. 4th pick: #3 (Beau Jester) - Firster from the "Zito" barn is well-bred ("Distorted Humor") and his works are decent. However, he is almost five-years-old without having made it to the races. Maybe for the bottoms of the exotics. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #4 at 5:00 PM Eastern Top pick: #2 (DIAL FOR PEACE) - Good speed shown in his debut against MSW competition at Santa Anita. Trainer Doug O'Neill drops him into a claimer today and colt has a pair of sharp works since his initial run. 2nd pick: #7 (Karolly) - Drops again and will be racing against the weakest field he has seen in his four starts. Big speed to bring and he draws outside of the other contenders. Win threat. 3rd pick: #5 (Gifted Student) - Goes first off a John Sadler claim and he's given him five weeks to "get with" his program, which has been very successful all season. Son of "Mud Route" has worked four times since the purchase and the last pair are fast. 4th pick: #1 (Scorewithcater) - He's finished second in both of his starts for a tag, with his lone "poor" outing coming against maiden-special foes. Draws the rail and gets the addition of blinkers. Churchill Downs Race #10 at 5:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #8 (MR. SERIOUS) - Finished second last out off a layoff for the "red hot" Mike Maker barn. Start was also the first off a claim and he'll be very tough to beat today. 2nd pick: #9 (Gandolph Finch) - Finished fourth in his last which came on the Keeneland "poly". Race was his first off a two-month layoff and his price is "halved" for today's contest. Win contender. 3rd pick: #7 (Please Include Me) - Runner was claimed by Dale Romans in the fall of '07 for $50K and has been a bust to date. Comes back off a four-month vacation and will do so for a fraction of what they paid for him. Tough if ready to race. 4th pick: #6 (Go Red Go) - Runner was away from the races for over a year and has made three starts since returning. Drops to a career "soft" spot today and should be about ready to offer his best. HOLLYWOOD PARK Race #6 at 6:05 PM Eastern Top pick: #6 (WARREN'S DREAMING) - Has improved since a Hollendorfer claim in late August and a subsequent seven-week layoff. Just failed to get up last out on this surface and distance running for $32K, and these arent't that much tougher. 2nd pick: #3 (Grey Lassie) - Speedy runner is improving and has raced well both on the lead and from a stalking position. Working sharply for a top barn (Ed Moger) and she's a major player. 3rd pick: #9 (Perfect Hostess) - Goes from grass to "poly," but she broke her maiden at Del Mar and then finished a close up third at Santa Anita. Lightly raced and working sharply, she'll get blinkers on for this attempt. 4th pick: #7 (Moscow Rising) - Goes turf to "cushion track" and stays at the same 6.5 furlong distance. Lightly raced five-year-old is in a good barn (Martin Jones) and she's finished 3rd in both of her "poly" starts. Horse Racing Picks Resources:
