Hitting the “Rookie Wall”

As you make your NBA picks at the end of this season, you need to make sure that you’re keeping up with one very important trend when making your NBA playoff picks against the spread. That has to do with rookies and hitting the proverbial wall, so to speak. The college season is a short one, with less than 40 games even for those teams that make it all the way to the Final Four. What this means is that players just won’t be used to playing an 80 game season. When it comes down to the final week, take note of those rookies who seem to have hit a wall.

Wundercat always wants to know how we can use this information to our advantage when making bets. There are some teams out there that have rookies playing key roles. If you can spot these teams, you might notice that the rookies have struggled some down the stretch. As with all things, don’t just take this advice and apply it across the board with all of your NBA playoff picks, but use it to your advantage. Make sure that you are not betting on squads that are just going to come out and play tired basketball.

This wall can be especially bad for rookie big men, who aren’t used to banging down low for months at a time. While guards can sometimes get by and keep their play at an elevated level over a long period of time, big men are more susceptible to this trend. You might also notice some teams start to rest their young guys if they are not in the immediate playoff hunt, so don’t get caught betting on a team that isn’t going to give you a full roster. You should have all of this information if you’re going to be as successful as the Wundercat.
