The critical number of seven in college basketball 

Seven is a very important number in gambling. It is even important when it comes time for you to make your college basketball picks. Why is seven such an important figure? It’s because seven is one possession south of ten. When a team is down by ten points, they are likely to keep trying. More importantly, if they are down by ten points late in a game, they are more likely than not going to throw up some long shots. What this means is that you can feel secure with a ten point lead, only to have it dashed by a late three pointer. For this reason, covering seven is hard for a lot of teams.

Likewise, a seven point number is there because one team is just slightly better than the other. Double digit spreads typically indicate a talent disparity. At seven, though, you are just seeing the impact of home court and a little bit more. In college basketball, where there is so much parity, it is very hard for similarly built teams to blow the others out. Games are going to be close for these teams, so covering seven can be very difficult in some instances. You should remember this if you want to make successful NCAA picks this year.
