San Antonio Spurs at Chicago Bulls Thurs. Feb. 17, 2011 8 p.m. EST

The San Antonio Spurs are arguably the best team in the NBA this season as they have been able to compete with the best of the best and despite not getting any younger, only have nine losses on the season so far.

On Thursday night, the Spurs will have an opportunity to remain under double-digit losses before heading into the All-Star break as they will travel to the Windy City to take on NBA MVP candidate Derrick Rose and the resurgent Chicago Bulls.

Even though the consensus around the league is that the Spurs are the best team in the NBA this season, the Bulls are favored in NBA picks to come out on top in this game with a -2 point spread.

This is a bit of a surprise as the Spurs are the best team in the league on the road this season (21-7), but the bulk of their losses as come when playing in other building. This should be a tight game from start to finish as the Spurs will almost certainly have trouble staying in front of Derrick Rose, but in the end I believe San Antonio will prevail.

Dallas Mavericks at Phoenix Suns Thurs. Feb. 17, 2011 10:30 p.m. EST

The Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns are two teams that have been arguably two of the best teams in the Western Conference for quite some time. Not only have they been two heavyweights in the West, but they also have some ties as two-time NBA MVP point guard Steve Nash and one-time NBA MVP Dirk Nowitzki are best friends.

Along with being best buds, Nash and Nowitzki at one point in time used to be teammates in Dallas and every time they get together on the basketball floor they put on a show.

This Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks will travel to Phoenix to take on Steve Nash and the Suns. Even though these two teams matchup fairly well with each other, the Suns will have the edge here as they are -1 point favorites in NBA picks.

Despite this game being played at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, the Mavs  are pretty hot right now as they have won nine of their last ten games. With that being said, I believe Dirk Nowitzki and company should come out on top in this one.
